Paternal

Anna + Stanley
My father's parents came from Krasnybor, Poland near the Russian steppes, when it wasn't Poland but divided into three territories in the early 1900's between Russia, Austria and Prussia.  They didn't  speak much English.  My grandfather died in 1955 when I was 5 and my Polish grandmother died a few months later in early 1956.

Maternal

Emma + Ott
My mother's parents are of German descent.  Both sides of their families emigrated to the U.S. many generations
before.  My maternal grandmother's grandfather arrived in the U.S. before the Civil War.  We have photocopies of his Civil War enlistment documents.  My grandfather died when I was 15 and my Grandma Emy lived to be 97.  She died in 1999 when I was 49 years old.  My grandmother was a finalist in the 9th Annual Pillsbury Bake-off and wrote the story of our ancestry in novel form, "Through Emy's Eyes,"  when she was in her 90's, which I helped her by typing and editing it.
